Officeworks Sausage Sizzle Update 2017

I just wanted to follow up on our weekend Sausage Sizzle. It’s always heartening to see people willing to give up their time to help the school and last weekend was a classic example. We worked in scorching heat and pouring rain.

It’s unfortunate that the numbers were down which took Officeworks by surprise as well. In 2016 during the same back to school weekend Officeworks had 4 times the number of shoppers coming to the Store. Anthony the manger decided that since we had such a low turnout, he would donate the cost of the sausages to the Lathlain P&C. This was very generous of him especially as he had no obligation to do so and I want to thank him and Officeworks for their support.

For our efforts we made just under $400 after costs and still have 21Kilo of sausages ad Eskies full of drinks that can be used at the Picnic on the Green, our traditional Lathlain family afternoon picnic, coming up on Friday the 17th February.

The returns may be down from expectations but we may improve this bottom line after the 19th.

So once again, thank you for taking the time to help make a difference for your school and I look forward to spending more time with you over the course of the school year at future events.

Fete numbers are in – We did really, really well…

Healthway Colour LogoLogo ABC Balloon Full Colour

The fete was such a huge success on so many fronts. We had amazing school participation with 180 people volunteering their time on the day and another 150 people contributing in the form of commercial stalls, entertainment and community groups. I think we can confidently say we fulfilled the motto of our major sponsor Healthway – Act-Commit-Belong.

So are you curious about how much we made from the fete?

Well it it was more than $10,000

More than $15, 000

How about

Congratulations Lathlain Primary School for a momentous effort.

Now what to spend it on…hmmmm. Well the P&C will always rely firstly on the school to guide us around what it needs. However, we are also keen to hear from you and what you think would be a good way to spend some money in the school – a sensory/nature play garden?  new sports equipment ? more shade in the playground? Let us know what you think and even if we can’t address it now – it will give us something to work towards next year.

EDU-DANCE Wed 21st:Food stalls for dinner

Wednesday night we all get to see our kids show their dance skills. It is always a fun night to watch all the parents enjoy the music also – there is usually an 80 or 90’s classic we recognise.

This year the P&C has arranged for some food vans available so you’ll be able to eat dinner.

They will be serving from approx. 5pm till 8.30 on the night.

They will welcome pre orders on the night to avoid having to wait around (ie if you want your pizza at 7.30pm you can order and pay earlier in the night and it will be ready to go at 7.30pm).

So we’re all ready for an entertaining evening with good food and good company.

Lathlain Olympics one day bonanza

The school was very lucky yesterday to have such fantastic weather for their sports day. FORREST Faction burst out of the blocks with its first win since its creation, followed by COWAN, STANLEY and CURTIN. Individual and team efforts were all cheered loudly, no matter where the kids came in the group and it was a great interactive day. I am told the sausage sizzle was “the best” – thanks to the parents and P&C for setting up as always. Approximately $942 was made on the day that will go towards to the chaplain program. The kids also looked very neat in their faction colours, with many showing off the new sports T-Shirts. Don’t forget you can still buy the T-shirts for $25 and they can be worn to school during the week as an alternative shirt.
