Easter Raffle Donations
It’s that time of year again – we have started collecting items for the Easter raffle. Last year due to the generosity of the school community we had over 40 prizes and raised over $1000 for our school. Please drop off any Easter items to the donations basket in the office.
Look out for raffle tickets coming home in week 8.
Hello and welcome to Lathlain Primary school.
My name is Brett Turner and I currently hold the position of Lathlain P&C President.
I would just like to take the opportunity to welcome you all to Lathlain and invite you to our annual Lathlain ‘Picnic on the Green’ this Friday the 17th of February.
This is a chance to meet other Mums and Dads at your school while the kids have a Play on school grounds. It runs from 4.30 to 6.45pm (before it gets to dark!)
Lathlain P&C will be running a sausage sizzle + face painters and an ice-cream van. It’s a great way to spend a Friday night and get to know your community.
So bring a picnic and a rug and we’ll see you there.
I’d also like to let you now that the first P&C meeting will be held next Wednesday 15th of February at 7pm in the school Library. If you’d like to be involved with helping the school we want to meet you! All are welcome
I just wanted to follow up on our weekend Sausage Sizzle. It’s always heartening to see people willing to give up their time to help the school and last weekend was a classic example. We worked in scorching heat and pouring rain.
It’s unfortunate that the numbers were down which took Officeworks by surprise as well. In 2016 during the same back to school weekend Officeworks had 4 times the number of shoppers coming to the Store. Anthony the manger decided that since we had such a low turnout, he would donate the cost of the sausages to the Lathlain P&C. This was very generous of him especially as he had no obligation to do so and I want to thank him and Officeworks for their support.
For our efforts we made just under $400 after costs and still have 21Kilo of sausages ad Eskies full of drinks that can be used at the Picnic on the Green, our traditional Lathlain family afternoon picnic, coming up on Friday the 17th February.
The returns may be down from expectations but we may improve this bottom line after the 19th.
So once again, thank you for taking the time to help make a difference for your school and I look forward to spending more time with you over the course of the school year at future events.
Lathlain P&C President
The fete was such a huge success on so many fronts. We had amazing school participation with 180 people volunteering their time on the day and another 150 people contributing in the form of commercial stalls, entertainment and community groups. I think we can confidently say we fulfilled the motto of our major sponsor Healthway – Act-Commit-Belong.
So are you curious about how much we made from the fete?
Well it it was more than $10,000
More than $15, 000
Congratulations Lathlain Primary School for a momentous effort.
Now what to spend it on…hmmmm. Well the P&C will always rely firstly on the school to guide us around what it needs. However, we are also keen to hear from you and what you think would be a good way to spend some money in the school – a sensory/nature play garden? new sports equipment ? more shade in the playground? Let us know what you think and even if we can’t address it now – it will give us something to work towards next year.
We are having our excellent cake stall at the fete. Please bring your donations (cakes, slices etc.) to the school on Friday or Saturday morning. Please remember to list the ingredients on your offering and package securely.
It’s going to be a whopping 35 degrees on Saturday so make sure you slip, slop, slap, seek and slide! There will be plenty of shade on the day, suncream stations, water for sale and we have just added a giant waterslide for the kids thanks to MONSTERBALL AMUSEMENTS & HIRE! It’s all part of the wristband package – unlimited, all day access to rides for $20 ($18 if bought at school on Wed morn and Friday arvo). So don’t forget to bring their bathers and spare clothes. #lathlainfete #waterslidefun #slipslopslap
Last days for $18 wristbands ($20 on Saturday). Selling Wednesday morning (today) and Friday afternoon
The fete is almost here and to help you work out what you might like to see, here is a list of the commercial stall holders we will have on the day. A good place to get started on that Christmas shopping…
