Tree Planting Afternoon

The first week back at school this term was ended with a group of parents and students planting native bushes, tree’s and shrubs in the re-vamped fairy garden on the Friday. It was a bit of a dreary and miserable afternoon but parents and kids turned up with shovels and chose their plants. The area was already prepared for us, and we just had to dig a hole and water the plant in. Competition for some plants was a bit fierce, you had to be quick to get a flowering shrub, but the kids were enthusiastic in their desire to help out. It was nice to see an area of the playground that has looked a bit neglected start to look nice and fresh. The park benches have been repainted in nice fresh colours, the garden bed will look excellent when everything has grown a bit, and the coloured maypole installation looks great.
