It was an early, dark and slightly dreary start to the day, but it cleared up to be a crisp, clear morning. Numbers at the markets were lower than normal, but as people warmed up so did the crowds. We suspected the long weekend and chilly mornings may keep the numbers down. Our Devonshire tea and cake idea had some pretty tough competition from the other stalls, but we managed to sell most of the lovely baked items generous parents donated over the weekend. The honey was met with considerable interest, but we still find ourselves with quite a lot left over.
As a first experiment into the Farmers Market it was an OK start. If we do it again, we’ll need to think of something a bit different to the usual charity organisations to tempt people into our corner. However, it was worth giving it a go and I guess we’ll see what we come up with next.
