Election Day Sausage Sizzle and Cake Stall

Sausage sizzle success

Election day is a great opportunity for the school raise some extra funds for the school. Being on the cake stall from 8am for the early birds, or providing sausages to the more leisurely later voters, is also a great way of getting to know your local community. This year’s event also included selling off left over books from last years book fair. Thanks to all the generous parents who shared their time on the day and those parents who provided some very tempting cakes. The day had a real community feel to it as the kids played in the grounds and people came to chat and buy the delicious cakes (which were all sold), and have a sausage for breakfast or lunch. We even met some senior members of the area who told us they were P&C members when their children were young.  It was great to see some new parents contribute their time and we hope they enjoyed the feeling of inclusiveness that comes from helping out as a group for a common cause. The whole event went so well that some participants were talking about making the most of the federal election in September by adding a few more stalls and making it more of a fair. Sounds like a good idea to me – so if you have an idea for a stall that you could help with make a comment below. The P&C raised approximately $1800 from this day, which is a great way to start the fundraising year.
